Need a quick way to spruce up your closet for summer? Take some old winter tees and transform them into summer staples.
#1 Select your shirt(s) of choice that you’d like to alter. I chose a light weight turtleneck. Since it’s long and somewhat sheer I knew it would be great for layering.
#2 Fold the shirt in half, lining up the seams.
#3 At a 45 degree angle cut off the neckline. Make the V-cut as deep as you desire. You could also cut a half circle for a scoop or boat neck.
#4 Cut off the sleeves. Depending on the fit, try staying close to the armpit seam so the finished tank isn’t too loose and floppy.
#5 Now you have a new tank. Embellish as you desire. The sleeves can easily be tied into a bow and sewed on or make a ruffle trim.
I paired my top with a floral bandeau and knotted it on the side. Have fun putting some old shirts to use!
